Maintenance of terminal parts of nylon whips.. Nylon whips are the most durable, especially in harsh climates, but not indestructible. Exercise some care, and lay off abrasive surfaces. To avoid wax melting, keep them out of hot places.. Cleaning with mild detergent, hang dry, and perhaps re-waxing is recommended, if soiled. Contact whip maker, if not sure. Remember this mostly applies to whips made by 21st.century whips....   Never crack any whip with out a proper cracker!!!!!

Replacing cracker
This how most crackers are attached....
Using a sharp awl, penetrate under the cracker with out penetrating the fall, or your hand. Then pull cracker off hard.. You should NOT have to cut the fall..
Melt frayed parts on fall.  Don't let the fall, to continue, with a frayed end. If needed, cut tip at a 30 deg. angle, and melt.. Then loop new cracker  as shown....
Tie a single knot. But don't pull the fall through, just the cracker...
Pull tightly. Success!!!!
Repairing the fall.... This technique is called short shanking..  It's only good for 5 inches... More than that, you'll need to take it to 21st Century Whips..

This is NOT a cracker. But a frayed fall. This can be prevented by melting the tip, keeping off rough surfaces, and using a proper cracker.... Also following the 2nd procedure in cracker replacement above..   Do NOT do this on your APEX  Dacron whip, that has the plastic bushing, for any reason.  Send it to me. It's warranted for life. Otherwise you'll compromise the performance, of your APEX. It's designed differently and it will void the warranty..
Using tweezers or finger nails, pull the inner element out 2 inches, as shown..
Cut the inner element, and slide back the outer element over..
Cut the tip at 30 deg. angle as shown. Notice the fall is fuzzy. Run a flame along that as well. Be careful not to melt / burn any part, through..
Melt tip. Dip in molten paraffin wax, around 155 deg. F. . Then install cracker. Success!!!
